I had a really productive day yesterday. I finished drafting the copy for my website in English and Japanese and have sent it off to my dear friend Ats, who is reviewing the Japanese part for me. I also contacted the designer, Noriko, who is working on my biz logo, and she will be sending the logo over on Monday. In the meantime, I have put together my biz card design and all I have to do is insert the logo data, and send off the printing request. I found a really low-hassle and cheap biz card service online, and it will only cost be about 6,000 yen for 500 cards. There are cheaper services out there, but I didnt want to scrimp on cards as they say so much about you as a professional. I plan to order the first 100, and then if I am happy with the quality, will place the rest of the order. I also have been looking into registering my biz name and logo as a trademark. I dont have to be a legal corporation to do this, and can do it as a sole trader. It is worth the 100,000 yen investment. I also sent out applications to three other agencies and two potential direct clients, who I used to work with. One of the women called me straight up and put me in touch with a guy she knows at a govy research agency. He sent me a job request right then and there, but the bugger sent me this research paper that he wrote which is 9,400 Japanese characters long and said he can only pay me 50,000 for it. I wrote back and politely told him my rates and what that size job would normally be, gave him a considerable discount by saying I would do it for 100,000 yen, and will let him decide. I am hoping he takes me up on the offer and the reason I gave him the discount is because the agency he works for publishes a lot of papers in English on their site. If he doesnt take the offer, no loss to me, because I wouldnt want to work for someone that cheap and nasty anyway...
Today it was raining in the morning, and we are having a lazy day at home today. Mr. Nemo is asleep on the sofa next to me, and is snoring away. I have done two loads of washing, folded some clothes out of the clothes dryer, made a chicken and vegetable stew, and cleaned the kitchen. Now, I am gonna sit down with my cuppa and enjoy some cable TV... I love FOX and FOXCRIME, and cant get enough of shows like Bones and Law and Order. I am also addicted to Greys, and not afraid to tell you that I watch American Idol. They just finished the auditions two weeks ago, and last week they had the first two groups of 12 go through and 6 people were chosen from the groups. This weekend will be the last group of 12, and the final 3 from that group announced. Well, of to get my cuppa now and relax in front of the tellie (that is if I can hear it over Mr. Nemo's snoring!LOL)

Wow! You really got a lot done today! You deserve a good break in front of the telly. And BTW, I watch AI too and I love it!
Hehehehe! Glad I am not the only one that loves AI!!!
I love the crime shows too. What holiday was it in Japan today?
Its 春分の日, the Spring Equinox.
Wow you got a lot done- definitely deserve a tv break. Your life is heading in so many exciting directions must be hard to concentrate.
I think it is a good thing that you told the guy your prices because otherwise you are right, you could end up working for someone cheap and nasty and it is not the way to start out with a new business. Hopefully he will take you up on his generous offer!
We never had cable in Japan so I downloaded everything including grey`s, private practice, the closer (crime show!), law and order etc etc (plus much more!)- I am also addicted the the biggest loser aussie version at the moment!! lol!
Oh and I love how you wrote why the name "nooh"- I had wondered! Very cute. Big like how my nickname stuck around my whole life too.
Thank for popping in Lulu! I hope all is well at your place with your dad coming home.
Yeah, here is hoping the guy takes me up on the offer, as it looks like I might be able to get some regular jobs form him if he does. He mailed me back straight away and said he would check with the finance people on Monday morning, so I should know Monday if I have the job or not. It certainly will keep me busy for a few weeks, fitting it in between Nuthouse jobs and other smaller stuff that comes in.
You guys should totally get cable when you come back to Japan. As much as I love Japanese tv, I love sitting down in front of my crime and GA shows.
Thanks for commenting on the "Why Nooh?" section. I didnt know if I had ever written about it, so thought I would include it as I finally updated my blogger site to the latest version which allows me to add new gadgets like that really easily.
You must be so busy these days too, with the wedding not far off and the big move coming up?? Hang in there, girlie!
Hi Nooh! Me too, I had been walking five miles everyday and I am so sore! It is REALLY windy here (wind might blow me away) but I was able to get my washing done and finished.
Nooh do you prefer a dryer or hanging clothes outside? I appreciate both, I like to hang them outside for the smell and love the dryer when I feel like a need to get them done right quick.
We had a separate washer/dryer before and just bought the combo, and I like this dryer much more, the other one we had TOOK FOREVER!
ERR!
Nooh, I love TV, movies, music and and a serious BUFF about those.. My favorite is Dexter... I can't wait, season three starts soon but I could not be patient for Ugly Betty and went ahead and bought season 2.
We have Hikari Light Fiber and OH NOOH, you and Lulu too would LOVE IT, they have over 5000 movies on demand (most free), esp for the days nights when you have off and nothing is on.
Do you like that TV Show on Monday called TV Tackle? My husbands help translate most of it.. but I really like the debates.
GJ, hi! We have a washer/dryer in one, and so I usually put all the little stuff like undies, handtowels, teatowels, my yoga pants, socks, and Mr. Nemo's white undershirts in the tumble dryer. I am lazy, but it is good as they are not hanging out and are nice and soft when they come out. All the other stuff goes on hangers on the veranda, or if it is raining on the clothes hanger contraption we have in the main bedroom.
About your cable, we have Hirari One, and I have never heard of Hikari light fibre? I wonder if this is a regional thing??? We have wow wow in the living room and bedroom and Hikari in the bedroom. I was up last night watching AI and reruns of Bones and Greys last night. Yesterday I watch the latest episode of Greys 5.18 that aired last week in the US, and I actually cried. It was so sad!!!! God I wish I could say more. But I wont spoilt it for all you GA fans... (sniff, sniff)
What is this TV tackle? I probably know it if I saw it, or if you knew the Japanese title... what time is is on?
Speaking of Japanese TV, I am so sad cos Ainori only has 2 episodes left until the program ends. They are not continuing the program, for some strange reason. It has been going for 10 years. The last episode in 2 weeks time will be a 2 hour special where they show all the couples and Ainori babies from the show over the 10 years. Looking forward to that one. Shame it has to end thou... sniff sniff...
I just love the combo..right? Makes life so much more easier- I have this weird habit of trying various softener for the wash and sheets for the dyer lol
The Japanese title is TV タックル Monday nights at 9.
Ok Hikari Light fiber is for net access but if you have Hikari in your bedroom, let me know if you have the on demand movies, most of them are free except for the newer titles, they add more each month.
The only aspect I regret from Sky to Hikari is we don't have Fox Life yet or Fox Movies... I hope it comes soon.
