Green Light...
After months of negotiations with the old man at the Nuthouse (my boss), I finally got news this morning that our regional president and our HR department have approved my contract and the conditions. From April 1, I will be shifting to a contract agreement with work. Effectively I will be working 2/3 of the hours for 2/3 of the pay, and be able to work as a freelance translator at the same time. Three days a week I will be working at home, some of which will be my time to work as a freelancer. I will be able to save about $1,000 a month even on my new salary, and more if I can bring in freelance work. I will have annual leave and other leave including sick leave, maternity leave and bereavement leave. I am so relieved to get the final ok! Even though the old man at the Nuthouse approved this weeks ago, I still had to wait till the regional top and HR approved it, so now that I have the official green light, I am really excited! Over the last few months I have felt rather unsettled, not knowing if the negotiations would go smoothly or my requests would be accepted. The thought even crossed my mind that I should probably look for other options if the negotiations didn't go my way. Now, I can move ahead with preparations. I can finalize my website, and I have a friend who is a graphic designer putting together a logo for my business. Once that is done, the website can be finalized, business cards printed, client letter finalized, and in the meantime I need to submit my form to register with the tax office as a sole trader, then with that I can make a bank account in my business name. It is all systems go!!! Yipeee!!!
